About
Bolt Souk is a free nuts and bolts puzzle you can play in your browser, with no download or sign-up. Work through 30 levels by removing coloured bolts from layered metal plates.
Tap a bolt to unscrew it. If another plate lies on top of it, it is locked until you clear the plate above. Each bolt goes into an open box of its colour. Boxes hold three bolts; when one fills, it leaves and the next box in the queue takes its place. You can preview that next box.
When there is no open box of a bolt's colour, it waits in the five-place tray. A matching box pulls those bolts out of the tray when it arrives. A plate falls away once it has no bolts left. Clear every plate to finish the level. Levels unlock one after another, and your best star result for each level is saved.
How to play
- Tap a bolt to unscrew it.
- If a plate covers a bolt, clear that plate first.
- Send bolts into open boxes of the matching colour.
- Check the next-box preview to plan for the queue.
- Use the tray when no open box matches a bolt's colour.
- Watch for a matching box to collect its bolts from the tray.
- Remove every bolt so all the plates fall away and the level is cleared.
Use a mouse or finger to tap. Press H for Hint, U, Backspace or Ctrl+Z for Undo, R to restart, and Escape for the menu.
Rules
- Each box holds three bolts and accepts bolts of its own colour.
- A full box leaves, and the next box in the queue takes its place.
- The tray holds five bolts; a matching box automatically takes its bolts from the tray.
- A plate with no bolts left falls away.
- You lose only when the tray is full and no open bolt fits a box; a full tray alone does not end the level.
Helpers and stars
Each level attempt has Undo three times, Hint three times and +1 Slot once, which adds a place to the tray. Hint highlights the next safe bolt, or says when the level can no longer be won and suggests Undo or an extra tray place. After a loss, you can use +1 Slot or any remaining Undo, or choose Try again. Finish with no helpers for three stars, use one or two for two stars, or use more than two for one star. Your best result is saved.

- Clear plates above locked bolts to open more choices.
- Check the next-box preview before filling a box.
- Use the tray for bolts without a matching open box.
- Leave room in the tray for bolts whose boxes are still in the queue.
- A full tray can still be safe if a bolt fits an open box.
- Save helpers for moves that change what you can do next.
