About

Mahjong Tray is a twist on Mahjong Garden, the classic Mahjong solitaire game also available here. You pick uncovered tiles and collect them in a tray with seven slots. Three identical tiles disappear together, making room for your next picks. A tile is blocked only by tiles lying on top of it; neighbours beside it do not matter.

There are 30 levels. Early layouts have about 30 tiles, five picture types and two layers. Later ones grow to around 144 tiles, 20 types and five layers. As more layers appear, choosing which tile to uncover takes more planning. You can switch between light and dark themes.

How to play

  1. Choose a tile with nothing on top of it and tap or click it.
  2. The tile moves into one of the seven tray slots.
  3. Collect three identical tiles in the tray to remove them and free their slots.
  4. Keep making matches to clear the layout. Filling all seven slots without a match loses the level.
  5. Use Undo to reverse a pick when needed; you have three uses per level.
  6. Shuffle is available twice per level. Clear 3 can be used once and moves three tray tiles to a separate shelf with three spots.
  7. Retry if you lose. Win without using any power-ups to earn three stars.

Tips

  • Check the tray before every pick so you know which pictures you already have.
  • Look for a reachable third tile before collecting two of the same kind.
  • Consider which covered tiles your next pick will expose.
  • Use Undo before the tray fills if a pick leaves you short of space.
  • On a retry, use what you learned from the same layout to plan different picks.

FAQ

Is Mahjong Tray free?

Yes, you can play for free in your browser without downloading anything.

Do I need to sign up?

No, you do not need to sign up to play.

Can I play on a phone or tablet?

Yes, the game works on phones and tablets as well as desktop computers.

Is my progress saved?

Your unlocked levels and stars are saved in the browser on this device. Clearing the site's data removes that progress.

Does the game change tiles to make me lose?

No. Each level uses a fixed seed, so its layout is the same on every retry. Tiles are not rearranged against you during play. Difficulty rises with the level number, and power-ups can help you recover from a bad pick. Not every level is guaranteed to be winnable.
